Welcome to our workshop !
Violins hanging from the oaken beams, instruments on the workbenches. A child's toy among piles of wood. Dust on the old stone wall. Oly the cat sleeping on wood shavings under the warm bench light.
In the apparent chaos, the smell of genuine turpentine, benzoe and of heated wood bear witness to the work of the two luthiers.
The violin workshop “La Violonnerie” is the result of the meeting of souls – in England – of the French violin maker Yves-Antoine Gachet and the German violin restorer Ulrike Gachet (née Menk). Both of them work exclusively on bowed instruments.
In this place outside time, tradition and innovation merge happily to serve the sounds of the past and of the future.
